August 17, 2011 - HANNIBAL
- Jack and Erin Hess, owners of the new Hannibal Pharmacy, hope to
prove to customers that they don’t have to give up personal service for
value and convenience. “Our prices are competitive with the ‘big box’
stores and blow most of the local competition out of the water,” Jack
said.
A walk through the aisles of their newly opened store at the
far end of the Hannibal Medical Building that still houses Dr. Angelo
Arena, and you notice something: it looks like a drug store. You don’t
find camping equipment and furniture mixed among the analgesics and
Band-aids. The rows are neat. The choices are adequate. It exudes a
certain sense of importance and dignity. But the true calling of the
store is the service the owners and three-person staff are able to
offer.
“We are currently accepting all insurances and Medicare.”
Customers on Medicaid should contact the store. Jack says if you have a
current prescription that you would like to have changed to Hannibal
Pharmacy, just give them a call. “We have a good rapport with the
medical community. In most cases were are able to have new prescriptions
written and filled in a timely manner.” In addition, Erin is able to
give flu vaccinations and offers counseling to customers upon request.
“I
can sit down and go through the patient’s medications, making sure they
are taken properly and that there aren’t any interactions,” Erin said.
In addition, free prescription delivery to seniors and housebound
customers is offered.
Both Hesses are graduates of the Albany
College of Pharmacy and Health Services. Jack is native to Hannibal. He
and Erin live on the family farm with their three boys. Erin is a member
of the Hannibal School Board.
