Route 104, Ridge Road Accident
SODUS - The Wayne County Office of the Sheriff investigated a personal injury motor vehicle accident in the Town of Sodus on August 11.
Deputies responded to the intersection of Routes 104 and 14 for the report of a three car accident with injuries. A total of eight people, from the vehicles involved, were transported to area hospitals for what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. Deputies determined that the crash was caused by one of the operators passing a red light, westbound on Route 104.
Jordan A. Bowersox, age 19, of Pennellville, was issued a traffic ticket for Passed Red Light. She is scheduled to appear in the Town of Sodus court at a later date to answer to the charges. Deputies were assisted at the scene by the following ambulances - Sodus, Sodus Point, Sodus Center, Alton, North Rose, Rose, Williamson and Wolcott. Fire Departments at the scene included Alton, Wallington and North Rose.
One Car Accident
SODUS POINT - The Sodus Point Police Department reports that on Sunday August 14, Michael A. Wyrick, age 18, of Gillett, Pennsylvania struck the the Pit Stop Gas Station building located at 8463 Bay Street while backing his 2003 Ford F-150 pickup truck in the parking lot then left the scene without reporting the accident to police. With the assistance of several visitors in the area, the Police Department was able to locate Wyrick and his vehicle. Wyrick was then charged with leaving the scene of an accident and unsafe backing. The amount of damage that was caused to the Pit Stop Gas Station wall is unknown at this time.
Car Fire in Red Creek
RED CREEK - The Red Creek Fire Department responded to a car fire on August 11 on Main Street. Bystanders noticed smoke coming from the vehicle and placed the call to the fire department, who promptly extinguished the fire. The cause is undetermined, but was possibly electrical in nature.
